The Stone Where Sabbath-Keepers Stumbled

Sabbath-keeping denominations are boastful about their claim of being the true church prophesied in the Holy Scriptures. Since the Bible often speak about the sanctity of the Sabbath and its significance as the sign of God to His people, these sabbath-keeping denominations are very much confident to defend their doctrines against their critics and even against those non-sabbath keeping churches who claim to be the true Church of God.

Foremost among these sabbath-keeping denominations is the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, the largest sabbath-keeping organization based in the United States.

The Logo of the Seventh Day Adventist Church

Seventh-Day Adventists believed that the Sabbath is the binding sign between God and His people, the Church who keeps the commandments of God written upon tables of stones.  It is the sign that the power of God moves upon them and sanctifies them.

However, if we will try to review some of the statements given by their own leaders and Church writers describing the current spiritual status of the Church in its entirety, we will wonder why;

“An inspired pen sums up the Adventist problem today very succinctly and accurately: ‘The line of demarcation between wordlings and many professed Christians is almost indistinguishable. Many who once were earnest Adventist are conforming to the world – to its practices, its customs, its selfishness. Instead of leading the world to render obedience to God’s law, the church is uniting more and more closely with the world in transgression. Daily the church is becoming converted to the world.’ (Testimonies, vol. 8, pp.118,119)

Do these words apply to God’s people today? Look carefully and prayerfully at some problems that exist in the church today. Adventist have a sin problem. Adventists have a drug problem. Adventist have an apostasy problem.” (Adventist Review, January 21,1988, p.181)

What happened to the sabbath-keeping Church? What then is the significance of a sabbath, the sign of God’s sanctification, if the Church itself admits their spiritual failure? This is because they neglected to remember the  most important sabbath given by God to His Church. They did not follow the commandments of God perfectly. The Scriptures declared; “Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths“, but the Church focused her obedience only to one sabbath, the 7th day of week. The word “sabbaths” is in the plural term, saying the Church must observe not only a single sabbath, but all the sabbaths given by God to the Church. Is there any other sabbath given to the Church? In the Book of Hebrews, it says;

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. (Hebrews 4:9)

This is not saying that the seventh-day sabbath written in the tables of stone was already done away or become obsolete, what we are trying to emphasize is that God added another sabbath for the Church. The verse says, “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God“. It didn’t say, “There remaineth therefore ONLY ONE rest to the people of God. ” So what is this another sabbath as the Hebrew writer mentioned in his letter? In verse 8 it says;

For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

Yes, this sabbath pertains to another day – a day different from what was given at Sinai.  In verse 7, it explains;

Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

The new sabbath for the Church was the one referred in the songs of David, so opening the psalms of David, we will  discover a verse that mentions the day which the Lord God had made for His people. And it says;

I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.

The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalms 118:21-24)

What is the day that the Lord hath made? That another day and another sabbath given to be observed by the Church? It’s Christ – Head Stone of the corner.

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; (Ephesians 2:19,20)

Jesus is the Head Stone of the corner, the day that the Lord hath made, the remaining sabbath for the House of God. Now, someone might ask me, “Is Jesus a twenty-four hour period that we may say He is a sabbath?” Of course not! There was a sabbath that doesn’t only last for 24 hours, but even endure unto everlasting. And that sabbath is Christ Himself, according to the Bible.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Hebrews 13:8)

Going back to our sabbath-keeping friends. The reason why they failed from

Ellen G. White

having a sanctified life in spite of their high esteem to the Sabbath of the 4th Command is because they failed to remember the most important Sabbath of the Bible – our Lord Jesus Christ.  Although they displayed an outstanding defense for their doctrine, and proven to be a well-informed people about the details of the laws, sabbath observance will never be a sign of sanctification unless they will observe first and foremose the most important part of the Sabbath Doctrine which is Christ. Hence, Adventist Church fell badly. Their own prophetess, Ellen White, said;

The church is in the Laodicean state. The presence of God is not in her midst… Abridge the work, limit your labors, and you remove your Helper… What a terrible thing it is to exclude Christ from His own temple! What a loss to the church!” (Notebook Leaflets, vol 1, p 99.)

White Sepulcher; A Glimpse to the Professed Preachers of Christianity Today

Before He ascend unto His Father in heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ asked Peter;

“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” (John 21:15-17)

To prove his love to his Lord, the apostle Peter was given three same consecutive commands, “Feed my flock”, said the Lord. So, when the Lord ascended into heaven, Peter feed the flock of his Lord.

Feeding the flock is the major work of a shepherd. He guides them through a rich pasture and defends them against any attacks of wild beasts and strangers.  He should shepherd the flock the same way as the Head Pastor directed them.

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.“ (Psalms 23:1-5)

But instead of feeding the flock, what if it is the flock who feeds the shepherd? In the present age of Christianity, thousands of preachers are claiming that they were sent to feed to flock of God. They were called by their members as “reverend”, “eminence”, and sometimes “father”, that it seemed they have lordship over the organization. But looking back to the Scriptures, we will realize  that those early servants of the gospel had never been called by such lofty titles. Christ said to them,

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. “(Matthew 23:8)

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven“. (Matthew 23:9)

The word “reverend”, which many preachers proudly attached before their names, was used only once in the entire Holy Scriptures. Among the thousand verses of the Bible, this word was written only one time and that was addressed solely to God. Psalms 111:9 says. “He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.” This sacred honor has been used by almost all professing pastors of our time, whether Catholics or Protestants. More than this, Pastor Apollo Quibloy of the so-called “Kingdom of Jesus Christ” proclaimed himself “king” of his organization. These pastors, instead of serving the flock of Christ, are  being served by their members. Their members become so blinded that they didn’t notice how their leaders used them as merchandise, channel of benefits and wealth. Paul said,

But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,“ (Philippians 3:7,8)

Christ declared, “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)

A shepherd must give his own life for the flock as Christ gave His own to the Church. But look upon today’s pastors. Instead of sacrificing their lives for the sake of the flock, the flock gives everything to them. As compensation to their invented teachings, these pastors formulated several types of offerings to exhaust the pockets of their members. Love offerings, monthly offerings, thanksgiving offerings, miracle offerings, offering during the Lord Supper, storage offering and many other unbiblical forms offerings has been introduced to their members. Moreover, they also sell different kind of stuffs to the people, teaching them that these things will bring blessings, cure to their diseases and charms of good luck – teachings that’s nowhere to be found in the Bible.  But how about their flock? These people have been deprived of reading the Bible to know the truth, but rather advised them that the Bible is so mysterious and that not one of them would comprehend its teachings unless explained to them by the pastors. Thus, the minds of these people are being manipulated that results into fanaticism.

As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.” (Jeremiah 5:27,28)

For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” (Romans 16:18)

Behold at the reality of modern Christendom – while members are dying because of poverty and starvation, their pastors lived in luxurious mansions, traveling around the world, riding luxurious vehicles and private jets or helicopters, and yet members are continually giving their money to them. While members are suffering to live at the top of trees or under the bridges and sky-ways, or at the side of the creek, their pastors enjoy a pretty living in their palaces. In their previous life, these preachers lived a hand-to-mouth kind of living, but become great, rich and powerful as they become leaders of religion. One of the best examples is Felix Manalo, the founder and the first of the ruling dynasty of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) that based in the Philippines. He told that when they crossed the Pasig River together his wife, he don’t even have a cent to pay the boatman. But now, after several years of leading his Church he established in Manila, the leader of the Iglesia Ni Cristo became a millionaire and his successors billionaire. And how about their flock? They have been discouraged to read the Bible.

His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. “(Isaiah 56:10,11)

Block voting is one of the most beloved doctrine held by these pastors. By promising a huge number of votes, religious leaders sell their members to gain power, favors, and money from corrupt politicians. Felix Manalo’s church and the Charismatic group led by Mike Velarde are foremost among these religious syndicates in my country. To them, Peter said;

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” (II Peter 2:3)

When Paul leads the Church, he never even imagined to use his authority to exploit the church. He regards his ministry as a sacrifice, a great responsibility without hoping anything to compensate his service. But rather he suffered the persecutions and unimaginable sufferings in the hands of the wicked just to bring the gospel to the people. In his epistle he said,

Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I. Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches. “ (II Corinthians 11:22-28)

Even Christ Himself, though Lord of lords and King of kings, hadn’t lived in such luxury, but let his body lay at night to sleep without even a pillow for His head.

A true shepherd of the flock shall lead the sheep by the same manner as Christ lead them. He will give his life for the flock and serve them with all the blessings and gifts given by God through His Holy Spirit. He will never let his flock to become empty and ignorant about the word of the Lord, but like the Bible said;

“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.” (Jeremiah 3:15)

People must how to become meticulous when it comes to the subject of salvation. We must not be driven by emotions, fame and fine speeches of professing pastors of religion, but by truth, we must test them according to the standards of the written word of God; compare their doctrines with “Thus saith the Lord”, and God will lead us to the right path.

The Meaning of the Terrible Hatian Earthquake

The Haiti’s Presidential Palace

January 12 2010, a great earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 hit the Caribbean island of Haiti, approximately 25 km (16 miles) west of Port-au-Prince, the capital city. At least 52 aftershocks measuring 4.5 or greater had been recorded. Structures of all kinds were damaged or collapsed, from shantytown homes to national landmarks. It is still very early in the recovery effort, but millions are likely displaced, and thousands are feared dead as rescue teams from all over the world are descending on the country to help where they are able. It was the worst earthquake in 200 years which killed an estimated 316,000 people, injured 300,000  and 1,000,000 were made homeless, as reported by the Haitian government.

Because of what happened in Haiti, many people asked God, “why”? Some called Him a “murderer”. A man asked me, is God a murderer? Can anyone say that He is a murderer? The dictionary defined the word “murderer” as the unlawful killing of one human by another, especially with premeditated malice, or a deliberate killing of another motivated by ill will. The Greek translation of the Holy Scriptures defined “murderer” as anthrōpoktonos (ἀνθρωποκτόνος ), same term used by Christ to describe Satan.

Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44)

Contrary to the meaning of the word “murderer”, we should understand that God takes away life, not as an ill killer, but the owner of it. He owns life. He created life. Therefore, no one must question God or blame Him when life took away from a single person in a calamity. Christ said;

Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. (John 10:17,18)

If the Son have the power to give and take away life, how much more the Father in heaven.

We can ask, “who caused and why he brought Haiti into such horrible experience?” The Bible answered;

Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. (Psalms 18:7)

An earthquake is a manifestation of God’s wrath. God only shakes the foundations of the Earth because of His anger. He can cause the water of the sea to surpass the limit and flood the dry ground. He can call tornado out from the vessels of the wind or to call down hailstone to destroy the land.

Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? (Job 38:22,23)

Is there any reason for Him to get angry? Does He have the reason to tremble the foundations of the earth by His power? Yes, of course. God is so offended by people, and not just often, but daily.

God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. (Psalms 7:11)

Every day He sees iniquity. Man killing each other. For a small piece of land, people destroy his fellow. For money which he cannot bring into the grave, man kills his neighbor. For the money, man commits murder and thievery. Man sells illegal drugs to destroy the promising future of the youth. Man fornicate with his same sex, and women with her same gender. Women abort their innocent babies.  Married woman lies with another man, and married man fornicates with another woman. Parents sexually abuse their child, and children disrespect their parents. These are just examples of sins that lie every day before the sight of God. Does God have the reason to get angry? Does He have the reason to tremble the habitation of His creatures? Definitely! Paul said;

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (Romans 1:18)

The God of heaven is an offended God. He must express His anger so that man should think to repent. I remembered when a great earthquake struck over the province of Baguio, those inside the gambling dens came out, throwing their cards, chips and mahjong tiles and called the name of God for deliverance. People often forget God in their lives and they just call His name when in times of trouble. We offended Him and not Him to us. But we must not think that calamities today are the very last manifestations of His wrath. One more, God is preparing a grand manifestation of His wrath against the sinful world, and to this we have to prepare ourselves;

…but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. (Hebrews 12:26)

A Toast to Early Destruction

Despite a minimum legal drinking age of 21, many young people in the United

States consume alcohol. Some abuse alcohol by drinking frequently or by binge drinking–often defined as having five or more drinks in a row. A minority of youth may meet the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) criteria for alcohol dependence. The progression of drinking from use to abuse to dependence is associated with biological and psychosocial factors. This Alcohol Alert examines some of these factors that put youth at risk for drinking and for alcohol-related problems and considers some of the consequences of their drinking.

Prevalence of Youth Drinking

Thirteen- to fifteen-year-olds are at high risk to begin drinking. According to results of an annual survey of students in 8th, 10th, and 12th grades, 26 percent of 8th graders, 40 percent of 10th graders, and 51 percent of 12th graders reported drinking alcohol within the past month. Binge drinking at least once during the 2 weeks before the survey was reported by 16 percent of 8th graders, 25 percent of 10th graders, and 30 percent of 12th graders.

Males report higher rates of daily drinking and binge drinking than females, but these differences are diminishing. White students report the highest levels of drinking, blacks report the lowest, and Hispanics fall between the two.

A survey focusing on the alcohol-related problems experienced by 4,390 high school seniors and dropouts found that within the preceding year, approximately 80 percent reported either getting “drunk,” binge drinking, or drinking and driving. More than half said that drinking had caused them to feel sick, miss school or work, get arrested, or have a car crash.

Some adolescents who drink later abuse alcohol and may develop alcoholism. Although these conditions are defined for adults in the DSM, research suggests that separate diagnostic criteria may be needed for youth.

Drinking and Adolescent Development

While drinking may be a singular problem behavior for some, research suggests that for others it may be an expression of general adolescent turmoil that includes other problem behaviors and that these behaviors are linked to unconventionality, impulsiveness, and sensation seeking.

Binge drinking, often beginning around age 13, tends to increase during adolescence, peak in young adulthood (ages 18-22), then gradually decrease. In a 1994 national survey, binge drinking was reported by 28 percent of high school seniors, 41 percent of 21- to 22-year-olds, but only 25 percent of 31- to 32-year-olds. Individuals who increase their binge drinking from age 18 to 24 and those who consistently binge drink at least once a week during this period may have problems attaining the goals typical of the transition from adolescence to young adulthood (e.g., marriage, educational attainment, employment, and financial independence).

Risk Factors for Adolescent Alcohol Use, Abuse, and Dependence

Genetic Risk Factors. Animal studies and studies of twins and adoptees demonstrate that genetic factors influence an individual’s vulnerability to alcoholism. Children of alcoholics are significantly more likely than children of nonalcoholics to initiate drinking during adolescence and to develop alcoholism, but the relative influences of environment and genetics have not been determined and vary among people.

Biological Markers. Brain waves elicited in response to specific stimuli (e.g., a light or sound) provide measures of brain activity that predict risk for alcoholism. P300, a wave that occurs about 300 milliseconds after a stimulus, is most frequently used in this research. A low P300 amplitude has been demonstrated in individuals with increased risk for alcoholism, especially sons of alcoholic fathers. P300 measures among 36 preadolescent boys were able to predict alcohol and other drug (AOD) use 4 years later, at an average age of 16.

Childhood Behavior. Children classified as “undercontrolled” (i.e., impulsive, restless, and distractible) at age 3 were twice as likely as those who were “inhibited” or “well-adjusted” to be diagnosed with alcohol dependence at age 21. Aggressiveness in children as young as ages 5-10 has been found to predict AOD use in adolescence. Childhood antisocial behavior is associated with alcohol-related problems in adolescence and alcohol abuse or dependence in adulthood.

Psychiatric Disorders. Among 12- to 16-year-olds, regular alcohol use has been significantly associated with conduct disorder; in one study, adolescents who reported higher levels of drinking were more likely to have conduct disorder.

Six-year-old to seventeen-year-old boys with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) who were also found to have weak social relationships had significantly higher rates of alcohol abuse and dependence 4 years later, compared with ADHD boys without social deficiencies and boys without ADHD.

Whether anxiety and depression lead to or are consequences of alcohol abuse is unresolved. In a study of college freshmen, a DSM-III diagnosis of alcohol abuse or dependence was twice as likely among those with anxiety disorder as those without this disorder. In another study, college students diagnosed with alcohol abuse were almost four times as likely as students without alcohol abuse to have a major depressive disorder. In most of these cases, depression preceded alcohol abuse. In a study of adolescents in residential treatment for AOD dependence, 25 percent met the DSM-III-R criteria for depression, three times the rate reported for controls. In 43 percent of these cases, the onset of AOD dependence preceded the depression; in 35 percent, the depression occurred first; and in 22 percent, the disorders occurred simultaneously.

Suicidal Behavior. Alcohol use among adolescents has been associated with considering, planning, attempting, and completing suicide. In one study, 37 percent of eighth-grade females who drank heavily reported attempting suicide, compared with 11 percent who did not drink. Research does not indicate whether drinking causes suicidal behavior, only that the two behaviors are correlated.

Psychosocial Risk Factors

Parenting, Family Environment, and Peers. Parents’ drinking behavior and favorable attitudes about drinking have been positively associated with adolescents’ initiating and continuing drinking. Early initiation of drinking has been identified as an important risk factor for later alcohol-related problems. Children who were warned about alcohol by their parents and children who reported being closer to their parents were less likely to start drinking.

Lack of parental support, monitoring, and communication have been significantly related to frequency of drinking, heavy drinking, and drunkenness among adolescents. Harsh, inconsistent discipline and hostility or rejection toward children have also been found to significantly predict adolescent drinking and alcohol-related problems.

Peer drinking and peer acceptance of drinking have been associated with adolescent drinking. While both peer influences and parental influences are important, their relative impact on adolescent drinking is unclear.

Expectancies. Positive alcohol-related expectancies have been identified as risk factors for adolescent drinking. Positive expectancies about alcohol have been found to increase with age and to predict the onset of drinking and problem drinking among adolescents.

Trauma. Child abuse and other traumas have been proposed as risk factors for subsequent alcohol problems. Adolescents in treatment for alcohol abuse or dependence reported higher rates of physical abuse, sexual abuse, violent victimization, witnessing violence, and other traumas compared with controls. The adolescents in treatment were at least 6 times more likely than controls to have ever been abused physically and at least 18 times more likely to have ever been abused sexually. In most cases, the physical or sexual abuse preceded the alcohol use. Thirteen percent of the alcohol dependent adolescents had experienced posttraumatic stress disorder, compared with 10 percent of those who abused alcohol and 1 percent of controls.

Advertising. Research on the effects of alcohol advertising on adolescent alcohol-related beliefs and behaviors has been limited. While earlier studies measured the effects of exposure to advertising, more recent research has assessed the effects of alcohol advertising awareness on intentions to drink. In a study of fifth- and sixth-grade students’ awareness, measured by the ability to identify products in commercials with the product name blocked out, awareness had a small but statistically significant relationship to positive expectancies about alcohol and to intention to drink as adults. This suggests that alcohol advertising may influence adolescents to be more favorably predisposed to drinking.

Consequences of Adolescent Alcohol Use

Drinking and Driving. Of the nearly 8,000 drivers ages 15-20 involved in fatal crashes in 1995, 20 percent had blood alcohol concentrations above zero. For more information about young drivers’ increased crash risk and the factors that contribute to this risk, see Alcohol Alert No. 31: Drinking and Driving.

Sexual Behavior. Surveys of adolescents suggest that alcohol use is associated with risky sexual behavior and increased vulnerability to coercive sexual activity. Among adolescents surveyed in New Zealand, alcohol misuse was significantly associated with unprotected intercourse and sexual activity before age 16. Forty-four percent of sexually active Massachusetts teenagers said they were more likely to have sexual intercourse if they had been drinking, and 17 percent said they were less likely to use condoms after drinking.

Risky Behavior and Victimization. Survey results from a nationally representative sample of 8th and 10th graders indicated that alcohol use was significantly associated with both risky behavior and victimization and that this relationship was strongest among the 8th-grade males, compared with other students.

Puberty and Bone Growth. High doses of alcohol have been found to delay puberty in female and male rats, and large quantities of alcohol consumed by young rats can slow bone growth and result in weaker bones. However, the implications of these findings for young people are not clear.

The Health Habits of the Saved

We all admire the Junior with a strong body. We admire the fastest runner, the fastest swimmer, and the one who can jump the highest. The body deserves more careful attention than the finest watch or the most expensive bicycle.

Some people say that it doesn’t make any difference to God what a person eats or drinks. Men sometimes say, “Well, I think what I eat is my own business, and it has nothing to do with religion.” As we look into God’s words , it is very surprising to see how much help is given us in regard to food and health. The Holy Scriptures says;

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (I Corinthians 6:19,20)

We are not our own to do what we please. Jesus died for our sins. When we surrender our lives and hearts to Him, we are His from that time on. He dwells in us; we become His earthly temple or dwelling place.

Any church member would think it was terrible to bring some unclean thing into a church. It is just bad for us to take into our body temples that which God has called unclean.

Soldiers, sailors and marines are carefully instructed in the best ways to develop strong bodies. So also the soldiers of Christ should keep his body in the very best condition. If we are to be wide awake to spiritual things, we must have a healthy body. We must prosper in body and soul – in health and in heart, as the gospel states;

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (III John 2)

God gave man fruits, nuts, grains and vegetables for food. Then, after the Flood, He permitted the use of meats. This was about 850 years before the law of Moses was given. However, the Bible divides every animals, birds, and fish into two classes: (1) the clean which may be eaten for food, and (2) the unclean, which are strictly forbidden as food. So important is this distinction  that when God called His chosen people, Israel, He asked Moses to list carefully for them the clean and the unclean meats. Moses provided the list although the distinction was already given during the Flood. (Genesis 7:2).

Living creatures in the water may be eaten if they have both fins and scales. That is why the followers of Christ not eat crabs, lobster, catfish, eels, and shrimps, for instance. These do not have both fins and scales.

Furthermore, if animal has a divided hoof and chews the cud, as do the cow, the deer and the sheeps, etc., it may be eaten. If it does not both divided the hoof, and chew the cud, it if forbidden for God. For instance, the rabbit chews the cud but does not divide the hoof. Therefore it should never be eaten. The hog has divided the hoof but does not chew the cud. It is forbidden. That’s why Christians should not use the bacon, ham, pork in any form, nor should they cook with lard. The Bible pronounces them unclean.

Pork is one of the most dangerous of meats. It often contents a tiny worm or parasite, which causes a disease called trichinosis. It causes heart trouble , cramps, and dangerous intestinal trouble. How thankful we should be that God did not try to hide facts from  His people. He knows the nature of every animal and he knows the harm that may come from the use of its flesh as food. In His love, God has warned us not to eat unclean animals.

The Holy Scriptures trying to tell us that if anyone defiles his body temple, God will destroy him. It shows that the prohibition against eating swine’s flesh and other unclean animals will still be in force at the time of Jesus coming. In fact, the prophecy declares;

For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.

They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD. (Isaiah 66:15-17)

Furthermore, the words of God said;

The LORD made this covenant with you so that no man, woman, family, or tribe among you would turn away from the LORD our God to worship these gods of other nations, and so that no root among you would bear bitter and poisonous fruit.

The LORD will not pardon such people. His anger and jealousy will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will come down on them, and the LORD will erase their names from under heaven. (Deuteronomy 29:18,20)

God will not save those who disobey His will in such matters as the use of poisonous fruits, as well as poisonous herbs. Yet there are several poisons which many Christians use freely, like tobacco and those which defines as “illegal drugs”. The law of life is: “Whatsoever soweth, that he shall also reap.” If you so bad habits, you will reap trouble in the end, if not now.

God said;

Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. (Isaiah 55:2)

It is a sin to waste money on harmful things such as tobacco and illegal drugs. Lets not waste any of our money on Satan’s products. In matters of drink, God said;

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. (Prov.20:1)

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. (Luke 21:34)

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (I Corinthians 10:31)

We cannot partake of forbidden meats and forbidden drinks and live to the glory of God. If we are to be saved, we must be pure in body as Jesus was.

The Cult of the “Son”

The following is an interview made by the journalist Che-Che Lazaro of Probe Team to Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy of Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Name Above Every Name, which aired last Dec. 16, 2009. Also included are those statements given by former and present members of his so-called “Kingdom”.

Maliban sa tithes and offering?
Quiboloy: Yung offering, it is up to you eh. So, give and it shall be given. Its up to you. The tithes is up to God. Do not change the ten, because its up to God. The offering is up to you. According to the measure you have given, is the measure that will come back to you. So its up to you.

Ano ka dito… may oil pang kasama dito. Magbigay ka ng pera rin. Kasi gamot ko daw ito. (she showed a card).

Che-che: Is there such a thing as a TV fee?

Quiboloy: We have. Kasama na yun sa offering.

Che-che: Ah kasama na ho yun.

Quiboloy: Yung offering kasi, Che, is a sacrificial offering, love offering, andun na yung mga donations, nasa sa iyo na kung anong gusto mo.

Che-che: Ano ho yung wave offering?

Quiboloy: Wave offering is what we get on Sundays. Kasama pa rin sa offering yun.

Che-che: (laugh) Ak ok. Dami no?

Quiboloy: The wave offering is still up to you. Kung ayaw mong magbigay, its up to you.

Quiboloy: We do not require it as it if na nakautang ka sa akin. It is through obedience pa rin, kasi espirito na yan eh.

Magkano? 1,500 hati-hatiin natin. Ikaw 200, ikaw 100, ikaw 50, ganun. Sabi kong ganun, ‘bakit magbayad tayo, di ba may tithes na tayo? May offering na tayo? Hindi daw. Para sa Panginoon yun.

Nori Cardona (Chief-of-staff): Pagpasok mo dito (kingdom), ano dapat ang

Nori Cardona (Quiboloy's Chief-of-saff)

buhay natin? Yung kingdom culture… what’s the kingdom culture? Yung sinabi nyong may tithes…

Che-Che: Kung member ako, magmintis ako ng tithes this Sunday?Meron bang consequence yun?

Nori Cardona: Tatanungin. Fafallow-up in, bakit may problema ba?

Che-Che: From there they tithe?

Quiboloy: They tithe.

Che-Che to Cardona: Sino ang namumuhunan nun?

Cardona: Sila mismo. Doon mismo sa members, nagtutulong tulong sila.

Patty: Ang purpose daw nyon is not only raising money. Is to help your spirit daw to humble, para maalis daw yung ego mo.

Patty: Being a leader, mapressure ka talaga. If they say you have to produce like this, you have to motivate your men or the people under you… the members under you to produce that thing. You have to pressure them to ‘gawa ng paraan’.

Patty: Magtinda talaga sila.

Its just ahm… using the wisdom. God gave you wisdom to use.

Arlene Rillon

Che-Che: Yung mga naglalako ho, karamihan bata ano? Do you get permit for them?

Quiboloy: Yes…

Che-Che: Do you have permit?

Quiboloy: They have a business permit.

Che-Che: So, this is an official activity? Yung nagbebenta sila… they go out into the streets?

Quiboloy: It is a sanctioned activity. It is permitted.

May kota sila!

Erlinda: Exam nila yung ano ba yun? Mid-term ba yun?

Lahat dito, they have their own freedom of choice. Nandito ka, it is your choice like me. Kung ayaw mo na dito, the gates are widely open.

(Arlene said).

So yung nangyaring yun, parang mabigat sa kanila.

Arlene: I wasn’t able to go there ma’am because we have an activity here.

Che-Che: Is it not important that you have missed your father’s funeral?

Arlene: As their daughter, kailangan ko talagang magpunta dun ma’am, pero that time there was a very big occasion here at the kingdom and I had a very big responsibility here also. That’s why I’m … I…I… I apologized to my mom when she called me.

Che-Che: Do you have any regrets not having gobe to your father’s funeral?

Arlene: I don’t have any ma’am...

Che-Che: No regrets?

Arlene: No regrets.

Patty: For them, they are not blinded. They don’t accept na blinded sila.

Che-Che: What happens if you’re not here? What is the succession plan?

Quiboloy: This is a spiritual movement. What is important here is the message. I am the central figure in the sense that I am their model. Pero all of them will become like me.

Nori Cardona: Hindi siya matatapos kasi this kingdom is forever naman.

Patty: I thank God because nakalabas ako. And yung nakalabas ako, it was a great blessing. Kasi nakalabas ako. And it was also a struggle. Kasi yung iistruggle ko sabi ko, ‘Lord, you allowed me to enter into this organization, please help me to get out. And God made a way.

God’s Newest Son?

The first time I heard about his claim as the Son of God, I was totally alarmed. His followers numbered in thousands, blindly followed him in his aim to build a great “heavenly” kingdom in the Philippines where he himself is the King and Davao is the capital, the New Jerusalem as he called it.

Apollo Quiboloy, born in 1950, the founder and leader of the Philippine based “Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Name Above Every Name”, is now displaying his influence in the politics and continuously acquiring vast property from the supports of his fanatics by presenting himself as the “appointed Son of God”. And more than this, he was accordingly entrusted the power to grant eternal life to whomsoever he will. It is according to his official website where the following is stated;

“When the Sonship was entrusted to Pastor Apollo he was given the power to give eternal life to whomsoever he will as stated in John 17:2.”

Quiboloy claiming to be the Son of God.

Quiboloy claiming to be the Son of God.

He claims to be the heir of the Sonship and everything that pertains to the Son here in what he called the “Gentile setting”, making himself equal with the true Son of God.

I warn you readers. This man is now expanding his organization around the world and now making even foreign converts. Christ is the ONLY begotten Son of God.  Monogenēs (μονογενής) or UNIQUE in its direct meaning. So how come that this man from Davao will come and proclaim himself the “appointed Son of God in the Gentile setting”, entrusted to give eternal life, and equal with Jesus Christ”? This was a crystal clear deception! There is not a single verse in the Bible which tells that there is another Son to be proclaim aside from Christ. But rather, Christ Himself warned us,

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (Matthew 24:5)

There is no such thing as the Son of God in Gentile setting. There is no a single verse that tells that New Jerusalem will be established in Davao province. And there’s no other messenger appointed in these last days except Jesus Christ. And above all, the Son of God never requires the Christians to give appointed amount as their offering, like what Mr. Quiboloy did to his members.

Want to know another thing about him? He was a false prophet. Remember what happened in this past presidential election in the Philippines? When Quiboloy said;

Tonight let it be known to all Filipinos that the Almighty Father has appointed the president of this nation. He is no other than Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro.” ( CLICK Inquirer Headlines).

But what happened after the election? Gibo lost and the seat was won by Cory’s son, Noynoy Aquino.

And how could a man become the Savior if he himself is willing to put his followers to death? Remember how this preacher connected to a violence happened in Southern Philippines that killed the tribal leader Dominador Diarog, leader of the Bagobo-K’lata tribe? Jesus died for his flock but this man wants 20,000 of his followers to die for him. (Click and READ)
